Morning All! Today,
Something Different. Reflections The New Year is upon us.
I know it's a happy time of year for most of us. Here at
The Dan Daily Sites
it causes me to have a time of
reflection:
My, what a year it's been, what a ride. The sites have grown to almost an unmanageable level.
Total at last
count? The Dan Daily Sites contains some
520 web pages. (including the
Inner Circle sites)
It started with 1. The domain name, the time I took developing the actual structure of the site, was well worth the year it
took to develop. This is when it's all now starting to pay off:
No major revamps, all the sites have the exact same URL addresses they've always had.
Anything you saved in your Favorite Places a year ago, still works today.
Much time and thought went into this structure even though this growth couldn't possibly have been imagined...
This is the year I invested in "Photoshop" (check
out the price for that baby)
just so I could optimize graphics for your load times.
I redid every graphic on the entire site. The
Danny's Daily's pages now load in almost
one quarter the time.
I do get serious about having fun. The dropped load times were so noticeable, that you all started screaming for more pictures! And, of course, you got em.
This also helped me out as well: It cut my server space in half!
Just when I thought sites would have to be removed or I'd have to buy more space, this came along and saved the day.
Sometimes when you help others, you unknowingly help yourself... Again, a tribute to my original site structure work, my diligence in
staying with it, and my unending quest to always improve. To be
the best...
This was also the year the
Inner Circle was invented, though by percentage of reader numbers the membership is pathetically low.
It's doing well enough to keep my interest; enough so, a whole new site was built just for them, it's just awesome and the work continues.
I can do things on this site I can't do on the free site. Very
large complex pages and full archives. The never ending yearning
to be the best just makes the sites get better and better. Here, I

This year, I came close to passing the 2,000,000 mark in visits in one year.
That's two million souls tuning in just to see what I'm
doing. There are no words in the English language to describe the
feeling gang, it gives me goose bumps. I remember when I got 2,000 hits a month and I thought it was
great: I do almost triple that in one day now! That's a 323 fold increase and the servers handle it with no
problems. Where most sites are seeing huge declines in visitors, my sites are still growing and growing.
"The Dan Daily Sites" has been visited by souls in 172
countries in 69 languages world wide. I just couldn't be happier with the progress gang. And still, all by word of mouth. And
speaking of servers. My Internet servers are the fastest
around. Ping times, (connect times) are the lowest I've seen
anywhere. Most servers average .90 to 1.4 seconds to connect to,
mine do it in .11. They have been down less then 3 hours this
entire year! Those are awesome numbers, we sure lucked out on the
servers.
This is also the year The Dan Daily Sites on CD was invented and the
Dan Daily Store!
They've sold fairly well and the comments from the buyers are really positive.
Trying to turn a dollar on this is crucial to continued growth. If this can just support itself, I'm happy.
It must! I did try a couple of banners, for my servers and Crucial memory, but found out you need your cookies enabled.
Before I'd tell you to do that, I scrapped the only two ads this site has ever seen.
I'm not changing my beliefs on security just to turn a buck, even if I do use the
products.
I'm not a sell out, so please support the sites. Please, I can't ask you enough...
This is also the year I was threatened to be sued for articles I've published on
"Spyware." I didn't recant, they did.
The
Dan Daily Sites make enough of an impact that the
whole world notices gang.
This is also the year I replaced my entire system and connection speeds to the Net.
My time on-line has become so productive that many more pages have been produced while keeping the quality as high as you've come to expect.
I hope you agree.
Danny's Daily's
has taken a whole life of it's own now. It's kind of scary.
I don't know who this Dan Daily guy is, he never makes a mistake.
I, on the other hand, always do. He can't be real, I guess I've never met him but he's my hero.

And to think this all started with forwarding a couple of jokes to a few
friends... That's a lot of stuff!
All so seamlessly integrated that you never even notice it. That's a ton of research gang and the new equipment makes it possible.
When I shop for equipment I never think, "what would I like?" I think, "how will this help?"
So much so that I created a Dual Monitor Array that helps format your pages enormously.
Yeah, it's kewl, but it has a purpose first, not second. I can
format my pages to fit every monitor size. I'm the only Web Master
I know that does this. I can't believe I lived without
it, I wish I had two more! And
you guys: What can I say? In the last 6 months, I've only
had to delete about 30 of you for deleting my emails without reading
them; this out of 1000! The email readership rates are at about
99.9% per issue. Believe me gang, that's unheard of! Normal
delete rates are over 30%. When you get buried in email and start
unsubscribing to e-zines, you unsub everyone except "Danny's
Daily's." When I ask your opinion on something I get over 500
emails each time I ask. I don't ask a lot because of it.
LOL Talk about buried in email. What makes this so special
is realizing what an issue involves. You can't skim through
"Danny's Daily's." You have to be a reader, a real
reader, very rare these days. You are all a huge cut above the
rest; you have to set aside time to read an issue, you can't read it on
the fly. You can hear my
voice in these words; do you have any idea how rare that is?
You've proved what I've said so many times before. This isn't just
a mailing list. I continually strive to give you, the highest
quality readers in the world, the highest quality publications in the
world. You are my gang and it's most humbling.
This is what The Dan Daily Sites
has become. A living work always in progress.
The line on the main page that says: "We're always under construction around here" is so true.
My love for the Web and for all of you is why this happens. I like to think it shows.

that I'm done patting myself and you on the back:
I don't want to end this on a sad note but I feel I must. I would be remiss if I didn't say this:
This was also a year of tragedy in profound proportions. One we can never forget.
Our Countries Innocence was lost this year. The Dan Daily Sites lost about a dozen people due to it.
A very dark time: I realize that time has healed many of the scars that those not directly effected had.
My purpose is not to re-trigger those wounds gang. But before closing
today, this day of reflection, please take a couple of minutes and visit my Aftermath page. Let us all reflect anew the things that are really important.
For many thousands, this is not a happy new year at all. Let us take a moment and remember
them, please.
We Lost Our Dearest Blood, We Shall Remember... And
there is one more. As you know, I didn't mail out a ton of links
concerning the attack. This is by far the best I've seen.
