The Feathered Felon

Change is in the Air!

Bill owns a company that manufactures and installs car wash systems: Magic Wand Car Wash Systems; just in case you want to buy one. You know, those new little touchless car washes you see everywhere?

Anyway: Bill's company installed a car wash system in Frederick, Maryland for a new owner there. Understand that these Car Washes are a complete system including the money changers and money taking machines. As an owner, all you have to do is buy the system and Bill does all the rest.

The problem started when the new owner complained to Bill that he was losing significant amounts of money from his coin machines each week; perhaps in the thousands of dollars! He was extremely pissed off and went so far as to accuse Bill's employees of having a key to the boxes and ripping him off.

Bill just couldn't believe that his people would do that.

So they setup a trap for the thief.

And guess what? They caught the thief in the act!

Take a close look at the change return. Yup, it's a bird. Not just any bird; a very smart "feathered felon" bird! This bird had to go down in the change tray and back up inside the machine to get to the money!

The hole doesn't even look large enough to fit him does it?

I know what you're thinking: Maybe they're just nesting, this proves nothing: Read on.

That's three quarters he has in his mouth!

Another amazing thing: Bill told us is that it was not just one bird! There were several working together. A whole group of "feathered felons!"

Once they identified the thief, they found over $4000 in quarters on the roof of the car wash and more under a nearby tree.
