Danny's Daily's  had a unique beginning.  It started with a basket case guy, lost, and then found. (My homepage) Like most; I had a mentor, (Ode To A Jokemaster) and though we were worlds apart in what we did;  "Danny's Daily's" was born as a result.  Unlike most joke lists out there, "Danny's Daily's" isn't for the masses, it's for readers.  I went a different direction; no two jokes sandwiched between 5 ads.  No 20 second attention spans!  No skimmers; here you have to be able to read.  Really Read.  How good?  Good enough to hear my voice.  (a novel concept I grant you)

In my many years on the net; I starting learning HTML coding and tried some issues of the Daily's on the web.  It makes me laugh to think about it now, they were so crude.  They didn't do very well at all.  As I honed my skills; I did make some really good Ladies Day Specials which you can still see. (Danny's Daily's Issues)  So I didn't switch the entire operation at that time. 

The Dan Daily Sites  consisted of the tips pages "Living With Your Computer," my Home Page, "The Easter Issue," and all the other pages I made.  But still "Danny's Daily's" eluded me.  I worked harder on load times, graphic sizes:  I developed templates, web titles, redundant animations and graphics; and a whole host of other issues involved.

It was a huge undertaking.

Especially when you consider at the same time, my normal web work and the email versions of "Danny's Daily's" were continuing unabated.  I even went to "pay" servers because the reliability of the free servers really sucks.  Yes, I pay for my server space.  I wanted it to work in a big way for my next try.  If it failed this time, I wasn't going to try again.

A year and a half later, all was ready and I launched the web issues once again:  This time the response was overwhelming.  Much improved load times over AOL e-mail; you can scroll right away, pictures don't jump, music, animated graphics, movies, applets; things I couldn't even imagine.  And FINALLY!  My Internet subscribers could see the page the way it was meant to be seen.  Talk about one major sigh of relief.

"Danny's Daily's" was no longer just an E-zine.  It Became a Production and I've Never Looked Back!

I've had, give or take, 1000 subscribers on the email list, but "Danny's Daily's" itself, is seeing over 35,000 people every month on the web.  It's phenomenal considering it's strictly by word of mouth.  The mailing list is small because of the strict requirements I have regarding deletes.  Being web based; anyone can visit the pages, but email subscribers have to read the updates.  "Danny's Daily's"  isn't junk mail; I won't allow people, any people, to treat it as such. (The Delete Rule)  The mailing for each issue, is actually 4 separate mailings in blocks of 250.  That's why you see the little letters a---d on your subject line.  This makes it less of a disaster if something gets lost.

The Dan Daily Sites  are seeing around 75,000 hits a month.  My sites have been visited by souls in 179 Countries in 79 languages.  Every US organization imaginable, AOL employees, NASA, and the governments of various countries every month.  Have you ever heard of Brunei Dardssalem, Mauritius, or Oman?  I have now.  LOL  Again; totally by word of mouth; as you know, I don't advertise.  

Though tiny by some standards, I find it manageable.  And yes, I do mean "I."  Everything that is; is from only me on this PC.  Really; I don't even use autobots for subscriptions; I do it all by hand with personal welcome pages in full color. (if you have HTML email)  No staff; no nothing, just me.

In the time since the mailing list first became a reality, we've had more then our share of tragedy in our ranks.  About 15 of us have died. (that I know of) Two by suicide, car wrecks, heart attacks, cancer, and yes, old age.  The September 11th attack took an additional dozen souls from us.  This is hard for me because so many of you email me regularly.  I have built up personal relationships with many of you guys, and some very special ones.  I go on subscriber tours every summer to meet some of you.  Some of you won't be there this year...

Danny's Daily's  going into it's 8th year, is so much more then a web site/ e-zine:  It's part of your life, it's part of my life.  It's not some mega black and white list filled with ads going to a million nameless faceless people.  No ads here, I personalize every issue.  Meaning:  I talk to you my readers.  I rewrite jokes including myself in them, some I write from scratch.  All the Dangerfield's I write; I talk to you as the people you are:  Individual and unique.

You are, by far, the most intelligent readers on the Internet.  I try to keep your minds busy.

This personal touch has affected so many, that a lot of you think the things in the Dangerfield's have actually happened to me.  Or that Buffie, (our poor blonde) is actually real.  I am foremost a writer and a story teller; not a copy and paste spill out the same old jokes just for the sake of going through the motions.

  This is what sets "Danny's Daily's"  apart from any other list.  The knowledge that there are real people behind these keyboards, just as I am, created this reality. 

Additionally; I'd say about 500 of us are currently hurting; whether in the hospital, or have loved ones going through the exact same things.  This is out of a list of 1000.  Even my mentor Ed Hexter has died. (Ode To A Jokemaster)  This rate seems very high to me, but it does illustrate how much pain and anguish is out there; just on this one list.  I have three...  It's called the "Human Condition," it's us and we're stuck with it, love it or hate it.

Remember what I always say:  We think we're all alone in this world; that nobody cares, and nobody else is suffering as we do:  "Danny's Daily's"  is proof that; we're not, yes they do, and yes they are...  I guess life is a balance, we experience the highest highs in our lives:  It stands to reason we experience the lowest lows as well.  (Tribute to a Champion)    Sometimes life really sucks...  But, the bad times do help to make us humble and thankful when things are good; maybe that's why they happen...

The Mission?  To make you smile and laugh, especially when you're sure you have none left.  To many of you; I'm the only smile you get and that's why I'm here.  Giving back the gift that was given to me:

"The Dan Daily Sites"  has become a huge volume of work; over 550 web pages to view on the members site!  You can spend days at my sites without ever leaving.  Why do I do it?

It's called Love... 

The Dan Daily Sites   had it's fourth birthday a while back; in that year, the sites enjoyed well over 2,400,000 hits.  To some huge commercial sites, that's only a drop in the bucket:  They have giant staffs doing what they do. (trying to get as much money out of you as possible) 

I'm different and unique, just as you are:  For just one man, I think it's pretty incredible.  We're placed on the first page of most all the popular search engines and in the top 1% of most viewed pages in the world.

So, when I say "Danny's Daily's" is the best, it's not just words Gang.  It's true, and there are a multitude of reasons for it.  Love and caring shines...  I want you to have the best and you've proven it is.

Why?  Simple, I love all of you.  Remember that old hokey song:  "What the World Needs Now is Love Sweet Love?"  Today it seems so profound.  What a shame.

The future?  All I can say is; until it's my time to go, I fully intend to keep on doing what I do already.
