When Only The Best!  Will Do...

Many folks ask me "just what do you drive on your subscriber tours?"  Well, I'll tell ya what I drive,,, better yet, I'll tell ya and show ya...

The following are pictures of the car I use for my "Subscriber Tours" when I don't use my touring bike.  She's affectionately known as:

"Big E."

This is a vintage 1978 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz.  She's got 50,000 original miles on her and has been in my family for over 20 years.  This is truly the "Queen Mary" on wheels and is so smooth you have to ride in her to believe it.  This is what Cadillac's used to be.  Eldorado WAS the "Personal Limousine" of the Cadillac line.

What makes this car very rare is the white on white on white. (white paint, white top, white interior)  It was the last year for the big Caddy Eldorado and the first year for the Biarritz custom trim package.  I've never seen another like her.

She sports a 425 V-8 with a HUGE 4-barrel Rochester carburetor.  And, Eldorado's were one of the first cars with front wheel drive. (she'll smoke those front tires and easily peg her 120 mph speedometer) She weighs in at around 4,000 lbs. and gets about 22 mpg. highway mileage.  She cost a whopping 16,000 dollars when she was new.  In 78, that was a LOT of money.  LOL

Standard amenities on this car include an AM/FM 8-track player, full leather interior, 4 lighted ashtrays w/cigarette lighters, automatic leveling air ride, cruise control, power locks/windows, 8-way power split bench seats, automatic power antenna, lighted passenger vanity mirror, (w/2 brightness settings) cruise control, automatic delayed headlights, tilt/telescopic steering wheel, true set the temperature climate control, fiber optic head/tail/parking/turn/brake light reminders, automatic tilt the seat locks, (that unlock when you open the door) passenger side rear door opener, (so you can open the passenger door from the back seat) and power trunk opener and closer.  Everything works...

The Biarritz package includes:  Side chrome on the hood and doors, logos on the outer locks, opera lights, limousine rear window and custom leather pillows sewn into the seats.

I added the Continental trunk lid (steel) and the Sunroof.

The Year: 1978
Price of Gasoline: .70 per gallon
1978 Eldorado Biarritz: 16,000 dollars and change
Having her in almost pristine condition 24 years later:

Priceless!

The Last Of An Era:  The 1978 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz!

Needless to say; if it's even cloudy out, she doesn't come out to play.

So there you have it gang.  The Dan Daily Cruising Vessel.  Coming on a subscriber tour, near you...
